Welcome Dean & David to Fresh Eating
It’s great to welcome a new eatery providing allergy free options for those in need and just great, fresh food for all of us. Welcome to dean & david-fresh to eat, a Munich based company which has rapidly expanded over the last 7 years now including their first location in Luxembourg. After several visits to this fine new eating establishment, I can give them a hardy 2 thumbs up for fresh, fast and allergy free dining options. As a new player in the fast food restaurant world, they are sure to be a huge success. Being located in the main business district on the Kirchberg plateau, they provide a healthy option for a quick, take away or dine-in lunch and dinner options. They also offer catering. Their location makes a great dinner and a movie date…hint, hint.
Upon entering, you’ll see the service counter on the far wall. You’ll see all the food displayed behind a glass partition, where preparation takes place. There’s a huge, lighted wall menu but not with English. It’s the small handheld menus that are most beneficial since they are in several languages including English. The staff is quite helpful and knowledgeable if you require a bit of guidance, which I did the first time. Once I grasped the layout of the menu then it was all fairly easy.
The handheld menu has an informative diagram of the nutritional health benefits of different foods available on their menu in case you have a certain nutritional goal in mind or would just like to learn more about what you are eating.
When choosing your meal, you have two options. First, you can choose from the set selection of salads, sandwiches and curries. Second, you can create your own salad from the salad bar which is assembled to your specifications. Either option is bound to provide a fantastic fresh dish to your liking.
For those with dietary restrictions, you will find options for vegetarian, gluten free, and lactose free. The set selections that offer these variations have a symbol next to each item but you must let them know since they make the adjustments based on request. As for those with nut allergies, it is not specifically indicated with a symbol when there are nuts but listed in the description of each dish including the curries. Please read carefully since there are peanuts and tree nuts in some dishes! The staff mentioned that nuts could be left off when requested creating a nut free dish since there are no nuts in the dressings.Once you’ve decided from the very delicious selections, you place your order and pay. When dining in, the cashier will give you this handy little notification buzzer that you to take to your table while waiting for your order to be freshly prepared. When your food is ready, the buzzer vibrates and lights up indicating that you should go pick up your food. Deposit your buzzer in the collection stack where you pick up the food.
We have tried several salads and enjoyed them all. I have not tried any of the sandwiches since there is no gluten free version for them. I’ve watched them being made and they looking delicious and hearty. There are more things I look forward to trying on future visits like the smoothies and juices.
If you have had a positive experience eating at Dean & David’s then please share in the comments so we can all have something to look forward to.
Dean and David is located inside the Utopolis complex right between McDonald’s and Coyote Café, in the old Subway location.
